Belongs to Sclerocephalus according to R. Schoch and A. R. Milner 2000
Sister taxa: Sclerocephalus bavaricus, Sclerocephalus concordiae, Sclerocephalus credneri, Sclerocephalus haeuseri, Sclerocephalus nobilis, Sclerocephalus stambergi
Type specimen: FG 321/1/129, a skull. Its type locality is Road-cut uphill of Gottlob quarry, which is in an Asselian terrestrial horizon in the Oberhof Formation of Germany.
