Sister taxa: Gomphaeschna inferna, Gomphaeschna miocenica, Gomphaeschna schrankii, Gomphaeschna sibirica

Type specimen: UMJG&P 211472, a hindwing. Its type locality is Schaßbach (Universalmuseum Joanneum collection), which is in a Badenian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Mühldorf Formation of Austria.

Ecology: fast-moving volant carnivore-insectivore

Distribution: found only at Schaßbach (Universalmuseum Joanneum collection)
