Sister taxa: Fundulus curryi, Fundulus davidae, Fundulus detillae
Type specimen: USNM 16883. Its type locality is Furnace Creek, which is in a Tertiary terrestrial horizon in California.
Ecology: nektonic omnivore
Distribution: found only at Furnace Creek
