Sister taxa: Fundulus curryi, Fundulus detillae, Fundulus eulepis
Type specimen: CIT 10276. Its type locality is Red Mountain, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in California.
Ecology: nektonic omnivore
Distribution: found only at Red Mountain
