Sister taxa: Actinosepia canadensis, Actinosepia landmani
Type specimen: BHI-5863. Its type locality is Bear Creek gravel pit, which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone in the Fox Hills Formation of South Dakota.
Ecology: fast-moving nektonic carnivore
Distribution: found only at Bear Creek gravel pit
