Type specimen: MLP 95-XII-1-19, a partial skull (anterior cranium with the left zygomatic arch, both incisors and DP4–M2 series, and left mandibular corpus with incisor and dp4–m3). Its type locality is Punta Negra, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial sandstone in the San Andrés Formation of Argentina.
