Belongs to Sphaerotholus according to D. C. Woodruff et al. 2023
Sister taxa: Sphaerotholus buchholtzae, Sphaerotholus edmontonensis, Sphaerotholus goodwini, Sphaerotholus triregnum
Type specimen: TMP 2002.12.63, a partial skull (nearly complete right squamosal missing only the lateral surface and ventral processes). Its type locality is Sphaerotholus lyonsi type locality, which is in a Campanian terrestrial horizon in the Dinosaur Park Formation of Canada.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Sphaerotholus lyonsi type locality
