Sister taxa: Protarchaeohyrax gracilis, Protarchaeohyrax intermedium

Type specimen: MLP 52-XI-4-168a, right maxillary fragment bearing P4-M2 (possibly P3-M1), a maxilla. Its type locality is Cañadón Blanco, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Argentina.

Ecology: scansorial herbivore

Distribution:
