Type specimen: USNM 22553, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Rice's Pit, which is in a Zanclean shallow subtidal siltstone in the Yorktown Formation of Virginia.
Ecology: aquatic suspension feeder
Distribution: found only at Rice's Pit
