Taxonomy
Plecia minutula was named by Rice (1959). Its type specimen is GSC 14422, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is 40 feet above Pleasant Valley No. 2 Mine Portal, Tulameen River, which is in a Ypresian lacustrine horizon in the Allenby Formation of Canada.
