Taxonomy
Protomyia inflata was named by Oustalet (1870). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Corent (MNHN collection), which is in a Rupelian lacustrine - large marl in France.
It was recombined as Penthetria inflata by Evenhuis (1994); it was recombined as Plecia inflata by Theobald (1937), Skartveit and Nel (2017) and Skartveit and Wedmann (2021).
