Taxonomy
Protomyia livida was named by Heer (1849). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Aix-en-Provence (Murchison collection), which is in a Chattian lacustrine - large limestone in the Niveau du gypse d'Aix Formation of France.
It was recombined as Penthetria livida by Handlirsch (1907) and Evenhuis (1994); it was recombined as Plecia livida by Theobald (1937) and Skartveit and Nel (2017).
