Taxonomy
Tychtobius brevicostatus was named by Martynova (1958). Its type specimen is PIN 506/119(99), a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Tykhta River, ditch 34, Kutsnetsk Basin (PIN collection 506), which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Gramoteinskaya Formation of the Russian Federation.
