Orussoidea was named by Newman (1834). It is extant. Its type is Orussus.

It was assigned to Orussomorpha by Rasnitsyn and Zhang (2010); to Vespina by Heraty et al. (2011); and to Unicalcarida by Sharkey et al. (2012).
