Mustela nudipes was named by Lesson (1827) [falsely said by Stone and Rehn 1902 to have been named in the combination "Putorius nudipes" F. Cuvier 1823, but this combination was not actually used before Cuvier 1842 according to G. S. Miller 1942, p. 119]. It is extant.
It was recombined as Putorius nudipes by Stone and Rehn (1902).
