Taxonomy
Plecia bivalvula was named by Zhang (1993). Its type specimen is Shanwang Provincial Museum S200288, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Shanwang, Linqu County, collection S200, which is in a Burdigalian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Shanwang Formation of China.
