Arthropoma was named by Levinsen (1909) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Schizoporellidae by Brown (1952), Bassler (1953), Brown (1958); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lacernidae by Berning (2006), Bock (2006), Di Martino and Taylor (2015).
