Taxonomy
Stigmellites heringi was named by Kernbach (1967). Its type specimen is GPUG 11137 and is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Willershausen clay pit (GZG collection), which is in a Piacenzian pond marl in Germany. It is the type species of Stigmellites.
