Taxonomy
Schizoporella was named by Hincks (1877) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant. Its type is Schizoporella ludbrookae. It is the type genus of Schizoporellidae, Schizoporelloidea.
It was assigned to Schizoporellae by Canu and Bassler (1935); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Schizoporellidae by Ulrich and Bassler (1904), Bohm (1926), Brown (1952), Bassler (1953), Brown (1956), Brown (1958), Cheetham (1962), Cheetham (1972), Pouyet (2000), Berning (2006), Guha and Gipikrishna (2007), Guha (2013).
