Taxonomy
Canis feneus was named by Tedford et al. (2009). Its type specimen is F:AM 25515, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is "Sheridan beds", Hay Springs, which is in an Irvingtonian terrestrial horizon in Nebraska.
