Taxonomy
Vetelia perforata was named by Scillato-Yané (1977). Its type specimen is MLP 28-X-11-45, an osteoderm (placas de coraza), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Arroyo Chasicó, which is in a Chasicoan floodplain sandstone in the Arroyo Chasicó Formation of Argentina.
