Taxonomy
Cupes lutzi was named by Kirejtshuk (2020). Its type specimen is LNNR PE 200001141, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Eckfeld Maar (NHMM collection), which is in a MP 13 crater lake siltstone/shale in the Eifel Formation of Germany.
