Taxonomy
Pheidole pauchil was named by Varela-Hernández and Riquelme (2021). Its type specimen is CPAL.401, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is La Pimienta, Simojovel (Mexican amber, CPAL-UAEM collection), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
