Taxonomy
Protomyia sluiteri was named by Meunier (1917). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Rott (Bauckhorn coll), which is in a MP 30 lacustrine - large lignite in Germany.

It was synonymized subjectively with Plecia lapidaria by Evenhuis (1994); it was recombined as Plecia sluiteri by Skartveit and Wedmann (2021).
