Taxonomy
Teffichthys elegans was named by Yuan et al. (2022). Its type specimen is CUGM K2-E2601, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lianhuacun village, Guiding County, which is in a Dienerian carbonate marl in the Daye Formation of China.
