Taxonomy
Pheidole chaan was named by Varela-Hernández and Flores-Zapoteco (2024). Its type specimen is CPAL.469, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Mexican amber, Los Pocitos (CPAL collection), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
