It was assigned to Synapsida by Gauthier et al. (1989); to Rhynchocephalia by Jones et al. (2009) and Apesteguia and Jones (2012); and to Sphenodontidae by Kuhn (1966), Reynoso (1996), Villa et al. (2021), Simões et al. (2022) and Agnolín et al. (2024).
