Taxonomy
Lophinae was named by Vialov (1936) [m. kosnik taxon no: 9242]. It is extant. Its type is Lopha.

It was synonymized subjectively with Ostreinae by Raith et al. (2016).

It was assigned to Ostreidae by Vokes (1980), Dockery (1982), Moore (1987), Rosenberg et al. (2006), Bouchet et al. (2010), Carter et al. (2011), Mendir et al. (2021).
