Bucanopsis secundus was named by Reed (1906) [Bellerophon (Bucanopsis) secundus Cowper Reed 1906]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Bellerophon (Bucanopsis) secundus by Reed (1906); it was recombined as Kokenospira secunda by Reed (1921); it was recombined as Kokenospira secundus by Wagner (2023).
