Taxonomy
Khoratpithecus piriyai was named by Chaimanee et al. (2004). Its type specimen is RIN 765, a mandible (incomplete mandibular corpora), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Somsak Sand Pit, which is in a Miocene fluvial sandstone/claystone in Thailand. It is the type species of Khoratpithecus.
