Eotheroides aegyptiacum

Taxonomy

Eotherium aegyptiacum was named by Owen (1875). Its type specimen is BMNH 46722, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Halitherium aegyptiacum by von Zittel (1893); it was recombined as Eotheroides aegyptiacum by Palmer (1899), Trouessart (1904), Trouessart (1905), Domning (1994), Domning (1996) and Voss (2014).

Synonyms

Eotherium majus was named by Zdansky (1938). It is not a trace fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Eotheroides aegyptiacum by Gingerich (1992) and Zalmout and Gingerich (2012).
Masrisiren abeli was named by Kretzoi (1941). It is the type species of Masrisiren.

It was synonymized subjectively with Eotheroides aegyptiacum by Domning (1996).
Manatus coulombi was named by Filhol (1878). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gebel Mokattam, lower, which is in a Lutetian open shallow subtidal limestone in the Mokattam Formation of Egypt.

It was synonymized subjectively with Eotherium aegyptiacum by Lydekker (1887) and Abel (1913); it was recombined as Eotherium coulombi by Trouessart (1898); it was recombined as Eotheroides coulombi by Trouessart (1904); it was synonymized subjectively with Eotheroides aegyptiacum by Domning (1996).
