Aegyptopithecus zeuxis
Taxonomy
Aegyptopithecus zeuxis was named by Simons (1965). Its type specimen is CGM 26901, a mandible (left mandibular ramus with P4-M2; partial alveoli of C, P3 and M3 and symphysis), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Quarry I (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone/mudstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.
