Taxonomy
Chione mathewsonii was named by Gabb (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Oligocene; Pacific Coast, North America.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cytherea (Callista) mathewsoni by Anderson (1911); it was recombined as Antigona (Artena) mathewsonii by Clark (1918); it was recombined as Amiantis mathewsonii by Stewart (1930), Parker (1949); it was recombined as Amiantis mathewsoni by Addicott (1973).
