Taxidea taxus marylandica

Taxonomy
Taxidea marylandica was named by Gidley and Gazin (1933). Its type specimen is USNM 7990, a partial skeleton (skull, jaws, eleven vertebrate, and proximal half of the right humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cumberland Cave, which is in an Irvingtonian cave horizon in Maryland.

It was recombined as Taxidea taxus marylandica by Long (1964), Holman (1977); it was synonymized subjectively with Taxidea taxus by Hall (1936), Hall and Kelson (1959), Kurten and Anderson (1980).
