Gopherus auffenbergi
Taxonomy
Gopherus auffenbergi was named by Mooser (1972). Its type specimen is FC 500 (temporary number), a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cedazo, which is in an Irvingtonian terrestrial horizon in the Tacubaya Formation of Mexico.
It was synonymized subjectively with Scaptochelys berlandieri by Bramble (1982); it was synonymized subjectively with Xerobates berlandieri by Reynoso and Montellano-Ballesteros (2004).
