Taxonomy
Homo georgicus was named by Gabounia et al. (2002). Its type specimen is D 2600, a mandible (nearly complete mandible), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Dmanisi, which is in a Pleistocene fissure fill sandstone in Georgia.
