Taxonomy
Circe insularis was named by Dall and Simpson (1901) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Gafrarium (Gouldia) insulare by Dall (1903); it was recombined as Gafrarium (Gouldia) insularis by Vaughn (1921); it was recombined as Gouldia insularis by Hendy et al. (2008), Perrilliat and Flores-Guerrero (2011).
