Lucina eburnea was named by Conrad (1848) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Oligocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 53836, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Mysia eburnea by Conrad (1865); it was recombined as Diplodonta eburnea by Dall (1900); it was recombined as Diplodonta (Diplodonta) eburnea by Dockery (1982).
