Amphechinus minutissimus
Taxonomy
Amphechinus minutissimus was named by Ziegler et al. (2007). Its type specimen is NHMW 2005z0199/0001, a tooth (M1 sup. dext.), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is DEL-B/12, Valley of Lakes, Central Mongolia, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in the Hsanda Gol Formation of Mongolia.

It differs from all species of the genus in its distinctly smaller size, and it is characterised by the co-occurrence of the following traits: dental formula 2-1-2-3, p2 single-rooted, m3 single-rooted without vestige of a talonid or postcingulid, M1 and M2 without metaconule. |
