Wentzelella (Wentzelloides) was named by Yabe and Minato (1944) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-u P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 893]. It is not extant. Its type is Wentzelella (Wentzelloides) maiyaensis.
It was reranked as Wentzelloides by Minato and Kato (1965), Hill (1981), Wang and Sugiyama (2002), Sepkoski (2002).
It was assigned to Wentzelella by Yabe and Minato (1944); to Wentzelellinae by Minato and Kato (1965), Hill (1981); to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Waagenophyllidae by Wang and Sugiyama (2002).
