Verneuilinidae was named by Cushman (1911). It is extant. It was considered unknown by Cushman (1911).

It was assigned to Verneuilinina by Cushman (1911); to Foraminifera by Cushman (1927); to Foraminiferida by Dorreen (1948); to Lituolidea by Bertels (1964); and to Verneuilinacea by Loeblich and Tappan (1984), Morlotti (1988), Neagu and Cirnaru (2004).

J. A. Cushman 1911This family incluedes those genera which at least in their early development, have a distinctly triserial arrangement of the chambers. In Verneuilina this method of arrangement is continued throughout the development of the test, but in other genera becomes variously modified.
