Taxonomy
Africanacetus ceratopsis was named by Bianucci et al. (2007). Its type specimen is NMR 9991-00001993, a partial skull (a partial skull including the rostrum and the dorsal part of the cranium with the vertex), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Southern Africa, offshore, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine phosphorite in South Africa.
