Baisopardus was named by Ponomarenko (1992). Its type is Baisopardus banksianus. It was considered monophyletic by Heads et al. (2005).
It was assigned to Myrmeleontoidea by Ponomarenko (1992); and to Palaeoleontidae by Heads et al. (2005), Myskowiak and Nel (2016).
