Taxonomy
Oligosciurus dangheensis was named by Wang and Qiu (2004). Its type specimen is IVPP V 13556, a mandible (fragmentary right jaw with m1 - m2), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Danghe River (IVPP Loc. DH 200102), which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in the Paoniuquan Formation of China. It is the type species of Oligosciurus.
