Taxonomy
Venus gallina was named by Linneus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Mediterranean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Chione gallina by English (1904); it was recombined as Chamelea gallina by Schneider et al. (2005).
