Taxonomy
Squamites regalis was named by Leleshus (1971). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Shishkat, Pandzhrut Formation, which is in an Emsian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Pandzhrut Formation of Tajikistan.
