Taxonomy
Kinosternon arizonense was named by Gilmore (1922). Its type specimen is USNM 10463, a shell (shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Post Ranch, which is in a Blancan lacustrine horizon in the St. David Formation of Arizona.
