Taxonomy
Ophiurites trunensis was named by Böhm (1891). Its type specimen is unknown, a partial skeleton, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Gerhardtsreiter Graben, which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate marl in the Gerhardsreit Formation of Germany.
