Strombina was named by Mörch (1852) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 890]. It is extant. Its type is Columbella lanceolata.

It was reranked as Anachis (Strombina) by Carpenter (1855); it was reranked as Columbella (Strombina) by Pace (1902); it was reranked as Pyrene (Strombina) by Oinomikado (1939) and Rutsch (1942).
