Taxonomy
Spongosaturninus matsuokai was named by Dumitrica and Zügel (2008). Its type locality is Mue 22, Mülheim radiolarians, Solnhofen, which is in a Tithonian open shallow subtidal wackestone in the Mörnsheim Formation of Germany.
